Walls of Happiness: Our CSR Journey in 2025

Priya Nair — Co-founder & Head of Design 28 December 2025 9 min read

In 2025, Wallaura donated wallpaper makeovers to 18 institutions across 5 cities. Here are the stories behind the walls.

Why Walls Matter

When we started Wallaura, we talked a lot about how wallpaper transforms spaces. But in 2023, a chance visit to a Hyderabad orphanage changed our perspective. The institution did good work — caring, nurturing, dedicated staff — but the walls were bare concrete. Institutional. Grey.

We hung 6 rolls of a cheerful jungle print in the play area. The children's reaction told us everything. They started drawing the animals they saw in the wallpaper. They named them. The teachers reported calmer, more engaged mornings.

That became the seed of Walls of Happiness.

2025 By the Numbers

  • 18 institutions received makeovers
  • 140+ rooms transformed across orphanages, old age homes, and special needs centres
  • ₹24 lakhs in wallpaper and installation donated (at cost)
  • 5 cities: Hyderabad (8), Chennai (4), Bangalore (3), Mumbai (2), Pune (1)
  • 80+ volunteer hours from our installer network
  • Stories From the Walls

    Sai Sneha Orphanage, Hyderabad

The children here had a tradition of drawing on the bare classroom walls — their own mural, painted in pencil and crayon over years. We worked around their drawings, papering only where they chose, turning their art into a frame. The headmistress called it "the first time the walls felt like ours."

    Sunrise Old Age Home, Chennai

The residents had an average age of 74. When we asked what they wanted on the walls, the most common answer was "flowers." We hung our Madurai Jasmine collection — white blooms on a warm cream background — through all 12 rooms. One resident, a retired schoolteacher, told us she felt like she was living inside a garden for the first time in decades.

    Asha Kiran, Bangalore

A home for children with cognitive disabilities. The occupational therapist here had specific requests: soft, non-stimulating textures in therapy rooms, and one bold, high-contrast accent wall in the activity room to aid visual development. We collaborated with their therapy team on every selection.

    How You Can Help
